Early attempts to reform governance of public wealth

Abstract

Many of the shortfalls in the governance of public wealth discussed in previous chapters have periodically and in some countries led to reform drives. In this chapter, we will describe how some of these have fared, starting with the most publicized and debated one, privatization. Then we move on to other types of reforms to improve management of public firms.
