Abstract

Bretton Woods, New Hampshire 1944: Delegates from 44 countries convened at a plush country club hotel. Their mission: to reshape th global financial system into a new order that functioned according to fixed rules. The architects: US president Franklin D Roosevelt and UK prime minister Winston Churchill. They fixed the rules.
