Abstract

This book is one in a collection of three, which I know as the Modern Warfare Collection. The other two books are Psychology and Modern Warfare, and Economics and Modern Warfare, and together the three of them overlap in several places, one enhancing another, and in the ways each is unique the strengths of one supplements the weaknesses of another in addressing the challenges of executing a comprehensive strategy. In combination with information warfare, also known as computer warfare, these things represent the future of warfare, law enforcement, political and social influence, and business strategy. There will not be a Modern Warfare book on information warfare because I’m simply not capable of writing one and, even if I were, there are authors far more competent in the topic who have already written about it. Conflict comes from differences in idea—ideas about who should run things, the way things should be run, ideas about resource rights, about fairness and the socioeconomic disparity, about taxation, about cultural and idealistic differences, and about religious manipulation. Despite all the efforts of those who dedicate their lives and resources to finding a way to find peace by ending conflict, this approach is destined to fail so long as people hold different ideas about the nature of the way things should be.
