Abstract

Comsat and satellite communications were part of the beginning of the space age. Much as space enthusiasts lament the passing of the Apollo years, the Comsat engineers lament the passing of Comsat. Comsat was “pure” in that engineering considerations were the highest priority; and, it was practical in that the corporation had to make money. Why did Comsat eventually fail?
