A Corporate Fable

Abstract

This chapter uses a fictionalized format, bringing the four participants together to discuss organizational dynamics. The fable is real, but the names have been changed to maintain anonymity. The story arose from my earlier Multinational Corporations (MNC) work as head of organizational development, where I facilitated workshops in “organizational savvy,” one of the many names for workplace politics. The original intent of this fictionalized format was to gain insights about cross-cultural differences. The result, however, uncovered various ref lections of the participants’ work experience and organizational culture, rather than of national culture.
