Abstract

Whether we consciously choose to or not, we build the ongoing patterns of communication and interaction that shape our relationships, decisions, performance, and the quality of our working lives. Collectively, these patterns reflect the character of our teams and give the culture of our organization its identity. Although every member of the organization contributes, leaders have extreme influence over the specific patterns that influence culture via their active engagement in overlapping contexts (i.e., meetings, reporting relationships, decision-making venues, etc.) where communication gets made and reinforced.
