Luke’s Three “Forward” Cycles through the Four-Phase Process Model

Abstract

Recall that the Journey Narrative goes through six complete “cycles” of the four-phase process, the first three times forward, and then three times in reverse. An overview of these six cycles is provided in the previous chapter, and summarized in figure 13.1 and table 13.1. While it may be tedious to provide a detailed examination of each of the six cycles, there is merit in providing a brief description of each. This chapter will describe the three cycles of the four-phase process that occur in the first half of the Journey Narrative, and chapter fifteen will describe the three cycles through the four-phase process that occur in the second half of the Journey Narrative.
