Abstract

Investment strategies are disclosed to prospective investors and in some circumstances also to regulators, who in all likelihood prefer a meticulous description of a series of connected and sequential steps to a general statement of principles. Conventional business strategies place emphasis upon planning and control. When considering a fund management team’s track record, investors will look for discipline in implementation where a plan is only altered when necessary. For most managers it seems inconceivable that any other way of working could be acceptable.
