Abstract

The analysis and findings from previous chapters clearly illustrate that global supply chains have been revolutionized in the past decades, and that ports have played, and will continue to play, much more decisive roles in the well-being of logistics and supply chains. Based on this understanding, the chapter will summarize the major findings of the text to provide sound justification for the main idea that this text highlights for readers: port-focal logistics as the appropriate development direction for future global supply chains. In addition, the chapter will also emphasize the potential contributions of this book to future research regarding the development of ports, logistics and supply chains; in particular, this book will serve as the perfect platform for further research on this topic.
