Abstract

Measures to increase energy efficiency are the most cost-effective way to proceed toward a low-carbon economy — many even have negative costs, which implies that they result in a net profit for companies and investors. On the marginal abatement-cost curve regularly released by consulting practice McKinsey, investments in efficiency offer the greatest potential to curb carbon dioxide emissions for the least cost.
