Abstract

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is gaining momentum in the Middle East due to the growing global demand for sustainable human development and because societies are demanding greater accountability for the behavior of corporations. This perceptual and behavioral shift among the stakeholders reflects the increasingly sophisticated and widespread understanding of the environmental, social and labor responsibilities of corporations. This has resulted in companies being evaluated not only on the basis of their economic performance but also on the form and level of their social investment and corporate citizenship.
