Abstract

Readers of a certain age may recognise the heading of this chapter as a catchphrase from The Goon Show,1 usually uttered by the character of Neddy Seagoon, played by Harry Secombe. It neatly encapsulates what many practitioners already recognise about the day to day business of investment, namely that, as pointed out at the end of Chapter 13, the making of investment decisions represents an example of human behaviour, and that both emotion and perception operate upon it.
