Abstract

Throughout the course of this book we have examined how many common emotional and behavior problems can rob people of the pleasure psychotherapist Ethel Person describes. These problems can happen to anyone, at any time, and be triggered by any number of different events or experiences, large and small. I’ve revealed how Short Term Corporate Therapy has helped hundreds of men and women to work through those problems and reinvigorate their careers and their attitudes toward work. But let’s say your company doesn’t provide in-house therapy, or for whatever reason you’re not ready to start working with a professional therapist. How can you protect yourself from tumbling into one of the six confidence traps, or increase your self-awareness to reduce the size of your blind spots? What can you do to maintain a healthy perspective regarding power and ambition? How do you maintain the trust of your employees or team? And how can you be sure you are living in accordance with your beliefs? In this final chapter you’ll learn the five steps you can take to become your own therapist: 1. Know when to start. 2. Assess the problem. 3. Make a plan. 4. Create your own 50-minute hour. 5. Enlist support.
