Abstract

Modern technological progress has come at a price — a price that we are starting to pay now, in terms of large-scale environmental damage; a price that many generations will continue to pay well into the future. It is this heavy price, the downside of technological progress, that is the focus of this chapter. More specifically, I focus on technological, industrial and environmental crises. These crises involve industrial technologies and they have devastating effects on human and natural environments.
