Prospects for Fusing Liberal Learning and Business Education in the Changing Environment of Higher Education

Abstract

Previous chapters in this book leave little doubt about the powerful learning created by integrating liberal arts, sciences, and business education. The central question for this chapter is whether such an approach is likely to take hold and thrive in the rapidly changing environment of higher education. It is a challenging question, for it would be naïve to believe the future of business education will be shaped solely by professors from liberal arts, science, and business disciplines working harmoniously together. In reality, the future of business education depends on a wide range of institutions and constituents interacting in a complex, dynamic industry.
