On-farm Grain Stocks and their Impact on Market Stability in China

In: China’s Agriculture at the Crossroads

Abstract

Large fluctuations have occurred in China’s grain market in recent years. Variations in natural conditions for agriculture and in the macroeconomic environment (such as inflation) are often regarded as the main reasons for market volatility. The role of on-farm grain stocks in the grain market is also important, but has often been difficult to analyse due to various restrictions.
