The Functions of the Financial Statements: Different European Approaches

Abstract

It is a fact that corporations in all European countries prepare and issue financial statements, consisting, as a minimum, of a balance sheet and a profit and loss account. This chapter considers the functions of these financial statements; the next chapter covers how the rules that govern their form and contents are set.
