Abstract

The bonds we have talked about up to now have all been fairly high quality. For instance, gilts are AAA-rated and absolutely safe. They are safer than a bank account and if you hold them to maturity you will always get your money back. There are a large number of other bonds that are not absolutely safe, however, issued by lower-rated governments and by corporates.
