Abstract

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are considered as the backbone of economic activity in any country. In developing countries efforts have been made to increase their competitiveness and to achieve a successful international trade insertion. However, structural problems in these countries severely affect the performance of SMEs — the absence of adequate Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) is one of the most recurrent bottlenecks found in developing countries.
