Abstract

Approaching the end of the study, one may also ask: what have we learned from the discussion of general and specific problems? On the one hand, we have seen that the simplifications applied in Parts I and II are frequently acceptable: for example, we are able to work without deriving the consumption paths with constrained optimization, simply assuming constant growth rates. We have also witnessed that the relationships of a transition to a funded system can be spelled out, generational accounts can be filled in, and the cost and benefits of transition can be determined.
