Abstract

The first new faculty chairs endowed under a technopolis initiative tend to be in the engineering and biosciences departments. Then the university’s Patent and Licensing Office is beefed up with lawyers and brokers. The business school, as some techno-regions have proved, may be relegated to hind teat or excluded from the banquet altogether. This may be the fault of university administrators who underestimate the b-school’s potential contributions, or of engineer-entrepreneurs who have not yet learned to respect marketing. But it may just as possibly be a result of the b-school failing to show interest and initiative.
