Abstract

Joining the WTO has now become a paramount policy decision in China. Integration in the world economy provides an organizing theme for the country. The over two decades of economic reform have brought profound changes in the Chinese economy and meanwhile, have seen shifts of China’s policy paradigms. Now the nation needs a new central strategic policy that will mobilize the people. The major policy shift in the Chinese reform agenda happens to be full integration with the world economy, which is likely to become the leading issue for China in the future.
