Very Large Corporations: The Vehicles of Financialization

Abstract

How and why have quoted corporation adapted to the predominance of transactions over relationships? How have they responded to the advent of the nomadic anonymous shareholder? How has financialization affected them? We will start by looking at the economic and financial influence of the leading quoted corporation. This will be followed by a discussion of the main changes taking place within them. The next section will examine how this process has been communicated to the corporations’ clients. This will make clear that financialization has now reached the point where it affects each and every one of us, as savers, consumers and workers who create added value.
