My best things are my mistakes

Abstract

Ilana Goor's sculptures are uncompromisingly spontaneous and inspiring. Born in Tiberias, Israel, she has lived in New York City most of her life, but her ties to her native country are strong. She opened a museum in Jaffa, Israel, that has become a major tourist attraction. Never having studied art formally, her creative output covers a vast landscape, including sculptures, decorative belt buckles, elaborately decorated gold jewelry and furniture and accessories utilizing uncommonly used iron "rebar." Her works have been exhibited in Italy, France, Switzerland, Germany and the United States. One of her most emotionally moving works is a large bronze sculpture at Yad Vashem, the Holocaust memorial museum in Jerusalem.
