China’s Healthcare Sector to Boom

Abstract

China’s population is ageing and unhealthy. The one-child policy introduced in 1979 has led to this rapid ageing, giving China an age population profile that’s getting close to that of a developed country. For example, the current median population age in China is 33.2 years. This is far in excess of India at 24.8 years, or even Turkey at 28.6 years. In fact, it’s more akin to the US, where the population has a median age of 36.6 years.
