Abstract

Most faculty and students in organizational studies can probably remember some of their earliest experiences with receiving or accessing journals from their chosen academic field. For many, becoming a reader or subscriber of such journals represents a key first step in their professional development, and provides their first exposure to the end products of scientific endeavors. As developing scholars learn more of the research and publication process, they quickly learn of the important role that journal editors play in the publication process. During doctoral training, both in seminars and in other discussions with fellow students and faculty, young researchers are given advice on how to increase their chances of success in getting their articles published. Further, the experiences of those who have served as reviewers and editors are also shared with aspiring scholars. Through all of these types of events, young scientists learn about the publication process.
