Abstract

The business case for diversity and assertiveness is huge; people perform better and make a bigger contribution to the success of the business when they feel valued and respected for who they are and what they do. Diversity goes hand in hand with inclusivity and the building of assertive relationships. People who feel safe, and know that they can live and work without fear of discrimination and prejudice, feel more secure and confident in themselves. They are more likely to engage fully in their endeavors if they know that they will be respected for their contribution and the difference that they can make by truly being who they are. People need to feel respected, valued for their unique contribution, cared for, and to feel that what they do has meaning and purpose.
