Abstract

Personnel management, training and development or human resource management is the area of knowledge management that is new and relatively unchartered. Traditionally, people have associated knowledge management with information technology and latterly with brand management, intellectual property, patents and research and development. As organizational trends are pointing towards the knowledge-based view of the firm, as suggested by Breu and Kosonen, then it is logical to suggest that the importance of personnel and training within these organizations will increase over time.
