Abstract

For many years, Kenya has faced many problems with its power sector. Some of the key problems include: – unreliable power supply; – inefficient operation of power utilities; – failure to meet growing demand for electricity resulting in frequent power outages; – inability to extend electricity to a large proportion of the country’s population; – financial losses; and, – failure to generate sufficient revenue to finance the power sector investment programme.
