Abstract

This chapter provides a conclusion to this book by reminding the reader about the key attributes of sport that offer leadership lessons, emphasizing vision, emergence, preparation, relationships, personal development, sustainability, knowledge cultivation, measurement and evaluation, passion, and a goal focus. These ten attributes of sport have formed the glue for this book. We have used them in various forms and weightings in every chapter. Here, we return to them as a way of summarizing the lessons for business that a sport perspective can stimulate. We also remind the reader how these attributes have shed new light on some of the pivotal aspects of leadership activity discussed in the preceding chapters, including the leadership function, relationships with followers, leading teams, coaching and mentoring, spiritual dimensions, marketing leaders, and leadership development for the future.
