Abstract

Public affairs is a specialised form of communication, being that communication directed toward legislation and regulatory decision makers. Over the last decade, the number and range of organisations participating in the European Union public affairs ‘marketplace’ has increased markedly. During the mid-1990s, there developed a specialised press and a large international press corps in Brussels. Also, a range of daily and weekly print and web-based journals and papers are available, colloquially known as the ‘village press’, specifically targeted to follow and comment on the evolving European Union (EU) agenda. Think tanks related to EU affairs have multiplied.
