Abstract

This chapter sets out an analysis of child poverty in the UK, and describes how policy has been shaped to give every child the best possible start in life, to be supported as they develop and to be given opportunities to achieve their full potential. The Government’s strategy to tackle child poverty involves: helping people into work, supporting those who cannot work; providing excellent public services; supporting parents; and working with the voluntary and community sectors.
