Abstract

The scope of this book is explicitly defined as inter-organizational collaboration. Yet it is fairly self-evident that in order to be effective at collaborating with external partners, it is important to have the internal capability to collaborate as well. An organization rife with robber barons and strong organizational silos is unlikely to be effective at external collaboration—the culture of such an organization works against any possibility of achieving collaborative advantage.
