Abstract

This chapter endeavours to bring all the aforementioned factors into a context which organizations can use to understand the relationship of their business processes to value generation in a global exchange of inter-operating business transactions. The increasing globalization of business during the last two decades of the twentieth century saw multinational firms becoming transnational entities operating across geographic boundaries. This change from local/international business to a transnational operating philosophy reflects how organizations must adapt structurally to approach business in a connected global marketplace.
