What is Mentoring?

Abstract

This chapter examines what is meant by the term ‘mentoring’ and leads the reader through a number of definitions and approaches that can be taken when considering setting up or participating in a mentoring scheme. Different models of mentoring are explored, as well as the reasons why mentoring may be introduced in the first place. A number of different case studies illustrate the variety of types of scheme that the Henley Mentoring Focus Group has come across.
