Abstract

Australia was a colony of Britain for a long time. Based on its special relationship with Britain after its independence and with the USA after the Second World War, it upheld the idea of ‘White Australianism’.1 As a result, Australia was labelled one of the most racist countries in the world. However, Australia later became aware of global trends and abandoned its racist policy in 1973.
