From Corporate Leader to Coach: A UK Perspective on Executive Coaching

Abstract

My perspective on coaching comes from having previously been managing director of a national building society in the UK. As a coach, this experience brought me advantages and disadvantages. Among the latter was the fact that senior managers must carry in their toolkit the ability to command and control. It is a necessary tool, but one that can lend itself to overuse, and overuse and second nature make dangerous bedfellows.
