Abstract

For much of the post-war period the United States had the most innovative and powerful financial markets in the world. American institutions have been in the forefront of the struggle for comparative advantage, and American financial markets have been among the richest prizes in that struggle. Understanding the politics of the financial services revolution therefore demands, above all, that we analyse the American case.
