Abstract

In Chapter 1, an examination of how airports functioned provided the context for understanding the contribution retailing can make to an airport’s operation. In this chapter the aim will be to highlight the increasing importance of commercial activities and to examine how retailing operates within an airport environment. Airport retailing is different. Just how different depends if you are a passenger or a visitor to the airport, whether you are on an international or domestic flight, or whether you are travelling on business or for pleasure.
