Abstract

In December 2003, Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold, Inc. (hereinafter referred to as Freeport) announced the creation of a voluntary code of conduct, called “Guiding Principles for Indonesian Operations—People and the Community.” The code outlined a set of principles that would guide the company’s activities at its mine site in Papua, Indonesia.
