‘An informed slowness’ – Curiosity as an Enabler of Learning in the Attention Economy

Abstract

In discussion with delegates on our executive education programmes we see mounting evidence of what is a societal trend towards multi-tasking and the uptake of information at speed. Tellingly, the all-pervasive availability of information from mass media channels and the resultant expectation by users to participate in the conversations that are taking place online point more and more to the inadequacy of the one-size-fits-all lecturing model with its focus on transmission-based learning.
