Abstract

This chapter presents the first of the three case studies. The initial focus for this particular case study was on the use of an intranet and was concerned with investigating the issues that arose as a result of using the intranet both to improve the efficiency of ways of sharing information and the facilitation of new ways of sharing information within the organisation. Table 5.1 illustrates how this case study sits in relation to the case studies presented in Chapters 6 and 7. As mentioned in Chapter 4, when discussing the research methodology, the purpose of the table is just to show the initial objective for deployment of the intranet in each of the three case studies. As will be seen, a wide range of issues arose during the case study and the limitations of this table will be discussed in Chapter 9. Nevertheless, the table serves as a useful starting point.
