Abstract

We are entering a period in which big global companies will come under ever greater scrutiny. The recent tumultuous economic events, the time it will take public finances to fully recover, and the questions being asked about how to prevent a catastrophic economic collapse happening again will all combine to make the coming decade a testing time for business. This will include any situation where businesses (and the people working for them) can be perceived as gaining unfairly at the expense of the rest of society, whether that is executive pay, tax policies, or use of scarce resources such as energy, food crops or water.
