Abstract

In the summer of 1994 there was no other place to be, or sport to be associated with, than soccer in the USA. Basking in the glory of an incredibly successful World Cup, fans were primed, players motivated, media intrigued and the names of Lalas, Meola, Harkes, Balboa and Ramos tripped off the tongues of sports fans and media pundits nationwide. The timing was perfect, the country ready with FIFA and the world waiting for the sport to explode.
