Abstract

In the course of globalization and increasing competition it is not only firms that must face new challenges. There are also challenges for not-for-profit organizations, such as non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) and especially, universities with internationalization of curricula and international collaboration being recent phenomena. The new technical infrastructure of information technologies offer the possibility to communicate efficaciously and cost efficiently.1 However, there is an intercultural aspect to all international communications and this is exacerbated by the communicating through information technology. Furthermore, the cooperation of participants in virtual meetings is the centre of attention in location-spreading working groups. The virtual meeting may only run optimally if suitable tools are used and the meetings are turned off to the virtual surrounding field. Of particular interest, is how to generate success factors for intercultural cooperation. A goal is the development of an action step catalogue to accomplish successful virtual participation in teams at an international and intercultural level.
