Abstract

Faith in our own national values dictates our cultural behavior, which in turn dictates our decision-making. A sense of duty and traditional ways of doing things are part of the same dynamic. Faith provides a theoretical belief when dealing with a new and unknown future. It may be vague, it may result in a plan, but rests, quite simply, on its premises that right makes might. Past practice, often subject to national regulations and institutional influences, shows the way in which thinking is done in the face of past uncertainty — the outcome of successful past actions. Our premise now is that might is the power behind Chinese military thinking, under their belief that China is right.
