Abstract

Founded in 1972, SAP is a recognised leader in providing ERP and other collaborative business solutions, industry-specific and cross-industry solutions, for small and medium-sized businesses, and providing technological platforms that allow for integrating heterogeneous systems. Its largest competitors are Oracle Corporation and Microsoft. SAP employs more than 32,000 people in more than 50 countries.1 With operations in Bulgaria, France, India, Israel, Japan, and North America, SAP Labs integrate ideas and leading-edge technologies that address the needs of specific industries and geographic regions, and maintain SAP and its customers at the forefront of e-business success.2 In 2008, revenues from software sales were 3.6 billion Euros (that is 31% of the total revenue: the other 69% of the total revenue came from software maintenance, consultancy and training).3
