Abstract

Almost all the arguments in favor or against a specific aspect of globalization are analyzed by appeal to some form or other of the economic theory of the state. It is possible to find a precise relationship to this theory in cases when it is not argued explicitly. There is no unique theory of the state in economics. There are several approaches. The objective of this chapter is to provide a comprehensive survey of these approaches that helps to understand the issues relating to globalization.
