Abstract

In analyzing what caused the 2008–2009 economic crisis, many experts point to a fundamental lack of risk management. But that is not entirely correct. For while it is abundantly apparent that most of the companies that failed lacked a sufficient risk management structure, there were also companies with rigorous risk management programs in place that failed as well.
