Abstract

For developed and developing countries alike, the experience of the past few years as regards the interaction between growth, incomes and employment, provides a number of valuable lessons that should be useful for the reconsideration of the advantages and disadvantages of incomes policies. However, it is with respect to the developing countries that such a reconsideration is even more urgent and, within that group, the Sub-Saharan countries which are now in the throes of a serious economic crisis.
